I’ve just returned from holiday in Exmouth, Devon, where one of the highlights was being able to cycle all along the prom. Cyclists and pedestrians were asked to respect other people on the prom and this worked really well. Brighton and Hove promenade must be five times the width of the Exmouth one. Why can’t we respect the wishes of people to walk, cycle or skate on our prom – as long as they look out for other people?

Most people just want to enjoy the seafront.

At the moment lots of groups of people are excluded and it seems so unnecessary.
