REGARDING the proposal for a mobile phone mast insta- llation on the tower of the church of the Good Shepherd in Dyke Road, Brighton, (The Argus, April 13).

There is great concern within the community about the effect on their children’s health of concentrated radiation from such an installation. They pray that the church will err on the side of caution in its decision-making.

Elderly people, relying on a future house sale to fund care, are worried. Local estate agents say house prices would fall due to the mast showing up in searches.

Many community groups, including toddlers, schoolchildren and other vulnerable people such as those recovering from serious illness, use the church buildings.

It is true the church is very much part of the community and is used for many different functions. We hope compassionate leadership within the church will prevail.
