It feels like the summer has finally come and as us English folk love to talk about the weather that's how I'm starting this post. During a sleepy moment this week, I missed my Hove stop on the train and ended up in Brighton. I took the opportunity to walk along the seafront and take in the sun. I was soon met with sights of groups huddling on the beach and smelling fantastic wafts of people's BBQs!

I was back up in London with work this week and begrudgingly going underground to get the tube from place to place. I still don't take for granted the mornings that I get the train to work and can take in the warmth of the sunshine - even if it is though glass!

Last night I popped to the Sussex for a pub quiz. I have mentioned a few times that I am still trying to find a quiz that I start going to regularly, but it takes lots of research to find one where the questions aren't too easy or too hard, it not too jammed and that interests your team. But I think I may have found it at the Sussex. I have heard rumours that the Sussex was not great – and also a little rough but although the pub may be a little plain, drinks are cheap and the questions were just on my level – we began in the lead but finished a miserable 8th ish!

This weekend, I have guests coming down again. I was warned that I would be inundated with visitors as soon as the sun began to shine. I love having people down, but we always end up having a nice lunch in Hove, walking along the front to Brighton, mulling around the lanes, getting the compulsory fish and chips then visiting a few pubs in the evening. This gives a quick insight into the feel of Brighton and Hove, but I am getting a little bored of the same trawl and would welcome any suggestions of other ways to tour the city in a day.

My visitors don't arrive until Sat, so I still have tonight to be selfish. I am thinking of going to the Jazz Festival at the Brunswick or along the same line, the Bees Mouth which I have been meaning to go ever since I moved here. I don't think I have ever been to a jazz night - I am even thinking of swapping my trusty glass of red for whisky for the night for the ambience.

Also my lovely boyfriend won some money on poker and promises to treat me with the money and spend it on a nice dinner for us. Trouble is, its only £25. I know there are many mid week deals around, so send any suggestions on where we can get dinner for two, a bottle of wine and maybe even enough left over to share a desert my way!
