A Brighton school will take over a shop in the heart of a shopping district.
Following plans to extend Brighton College, the school has announced it will move its two retail units from its Eastern Road campus to St George's Road in Kemp Town.
The new shop will occupy the former Cup Cake premises. It will be called The College Tailor and will sell uniforms for the three Brighton College schools and St Christopher's in Hove, as well as school books, stationary and Brighton College branded gifts.
The shop will be open to members of the public, although uniform items will be restricted to people referred directly by the schools' admissions office.
A Brighton College spokesman said: "We are delighted to be extending our links with the local community and to be joining the impressive array of independent retailers in the heart of Kemp Town."
Brighton College is set to expand after the senior school lowered its entry age from 13 to 11.
New facilities are being constructed for pupils in Years 7 and 8 and a new English department and design and technology studios are also being constructed as part of the £3 million development called the Skidelsky Building.
A new girls' boarding house will also open in September.
The college already has a music and performing arts centre in Montague Place and pupils play sport in East Brighton.
