One half of music producers Phats and Small has pledged to run the Brighton Marathon in support of The Argus Appeal.
Jason 'Phats' Hayward, who used to work for The Argus, has promised to raise money for the charity in the race on April 18, 2010.
He will be one of about 9,000 runners taking part.
Mr Hayward said: "I ran the London Marathon this year for Multiple Sclerosis and I would love to show my support for what is a brilliant cause in my home city."
Elsa Gillio, of The Argus Appeal, said: "Jason was one of the first people to contact us about running the marathon and we're delighted to have his support.
"The marathon is a fantastic opportunity to raise thousands of pounds for good causes across Sussex."
The event has been backed by Brighton and Hove mayor Ann Norman, and two prospective parliamentary candidates for Kemptown Labour's Simon Burgess and Ben Duncan, of the Green Party.
