The final moments of a Polish man's life were captured on CCTV as he died alone on a park bench.

Marek Pudlowski is seen arriving at the bench in Waterloo Square, Bognor, at 3pm, where he sits down, having already sustained fatal injuries.

He was found dead on the same bench half an hour later, on Monday August 3, by a member of the public who flagged down a passing police car.

An ambulance was called but the 51-year-old, of Bassett Road, Bognor, was already dead.

Yesterday officers from Sussex Police went back to where Mr Pudlowski's body was found to appeal for more information in relation to his killing.

Detective Chief Inspector Steve Johns, who is leading the investigation into the murder, said: “We now know that he was well and uninjured at about 10am that morning. By 3pm he had been injured.

“We have got some CCTV footage which shows him arriving at the bench at 3pm on his own.”

Mr Pudlowski is believed to have been living in Britain on and off for between two and four years.

He had worked in various jobs through employment agencies but was unemployed at the time of his death.

Mr Pudlowski suffered serious bruising to his upper body after he was attacked. Police have ruled out stab wounds but are still unsure whether he was kicked, punched or whether a weapon was used on him.

The only visible injury he sustained was a wound to his head. The majority of the wounds are to his torso.

A post mortem examination was carried out but it failed to confirm the cause of Mr Pudlowski’s death. Police are now awaiting the result of toxicology tests on his body.

Members of Mr Pudlowski's family arrived in Britain yesterday(MON) and will be spending the next few days with police officers.

Posters and leaflets have also been produced in Polish and Russian and are being handed out to people in these communities to try and get more information about the circumstances surrounding Mr Pudlowski's death.

DCI Johns said: "We are engaging with the Polish and other Eastern European communities in the area as this is a vital line of inquiry for us.

“We hope that by going back to the scene exactly one week after this incident it may jog people's memories and they can help us piece together what happened to Mr Pudlowski."
