Two men are being quizzed by police over a vicious attack where a man had his face slashed open.

The 32-year-old victim was walking home from a family party with his girlfriend when three men approached him and cut him across the face.

The blade opened up the man’s temporal artery.

After undergoing surgery on Monday, the man, who has not been named, was allowed home.

Detective Inspector Dave Wilkinson said: “We are speaking to a couple of people in connection with it and our inquiry is ongoing.

“The victim is being interviewed and once that has happened it will hopefully shed a little more light on the situation.”

Police are still appealing for witnesses to the attack between midnight and 1am on Sunday (AUG9) in the Barrington Road and Shaftesbury Avenue area.

The suspects are all described as white and in their early 20s.

One suspect had short brown hair and was wearing a white and navy striped t-shirt. The second man had short fair hair and was wearing a white vest top, and the third had dark hair and was wearing a long sleeved top.

Any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information should call Worthing CID on 0845 60 70 999.
