Children's writer and poet Rudyard Kipling lived at Bateman’s from 1902 to 1936, so where better to learn about his famous Mowgli Stories than at his former Sussex home?
One of a series of summer activities the National Trust property is running, The Mowgli Stories tells the story of a young boy adopted by a family of wolves. Although Mowgli has less fur than a wolf, less speed than a panther and less agility than a monkey, his courage and wit mark him out as the future king of the jungle.
Bring a picnic, sit under a tree in the Bateman’s garden and listen to Kipling’s enchanting tales.
