A paramedic accused of misconduct in a public office after the death of a man in his care had the charge against him dropped today.
Karl Harris, 44, attended the home of Barry Baker, 59, in Brighton, East Sussex, on November 29 last year after he dialled 999 saying he thought he was having a heart attack.
Harris appeared for a hearing at Lewes Crown Court today where Judge Michael Lawson QC dismissed the charge.
However the judge said that Harris, of Tophill Close, Portslade, would still face a charge of perverting the course of justice, to which he pleaded not guilty.
Harris was suspended from his role at South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Trust following Mr Baker's death.
A date for his trial was set for February 22 next year at the same court and he was told he would remain on unconditional bail.
A second man who was also arrested will face no further action, police have said.
