An unexploded World War bomb was discovered in a field.
Bomb disposal experts carried out a controlled explosion of the device in a field off Bazehill Road in Rottingdean.
It was found by a member of the public just before 4pm.
Walkers were directed away from the area by Sussex Police but nearby homes did not need to be evacuated.
