Your news report on the proposed strike at Brighton Housing Trust (Argus, August 17) said that seven members of staff “had been sacked” for not accepting new terms and conditions.

In fact, all seven are still employed by BHT but have been given notice terminating their contracts.

Even at this eleventh hour, should they accept the revised contract (as have over 200 others), I will be delighted to withdraw their notices and offer them nine months salary protection.

I am not aware of any other employer who, at a time of recession, is doing what BHT is doing to protect jobs and services as well as offering salary protection.
