It's odd but sometimes I sit here and the words just fall into place. This week however, there seems to be a mental block. I was hoping to be singing from the highest peaks of a triumphant few days for the Boro. Pitchside, things certainly haven't gone according to plan. It was good to get over the 1,000 mark again for the visit of Tamuff, and we now average 1,287 a game at home. Yes it's a tad short of last season's figure but with other big clubs to come, I think we may hold firm. More displays like the one at Histon and we could nosedive! A blip on the radar is how I see the foray to Cambridge.

It's not all doom and gloom though. Whilst gearing up to welcome the Tamworth fans to the Lane on Saturday, two ladies were spotted wandering round the car park. I asked if they were looking for the bowls hall, as they had a certain aura about them. Well, you could have slapped me round the face with a wet kipper when they asked for two matchday programmes and revealed themselves to be "ground hoppers", and Eastbourne was the final piece in the BSP jigsaw that gave the girls a full set from Premiership down to the Conference. Just goes to show that looks can be deceiving.

On the terraces, the "Move Along" saga took a further turn. Two fellow stewards received the accolade of being chanted at this week. Admitedly, it was along the lines of "Are you Jimbo in disguise" but it adds to the fun... I had to point out that neither bore any resembelance to myself. Matt for a start, is taller! And John still sports a goatee... how could they be confused with the original!

It was quite a thrill when I was handed the first print run of the Boro Blog book. All last season's in one publication and sold out in eight minutes. Even a Tamworth supporter bought one for the coach ride home. Ok there was only ten up for grabs, but with a further 40 now ready to go, it made my day! Another nice suprise was to see Dave and Josh, two of the Burton lads, down for yet another sunny week end at our seaside town. Whatever we did last year when they came to see their home town club play, it must have had lasting effect as that was the third time they have graced Happy Jacks.

And so to Tuesday and the venture to Cambridgeshire. With Histon having been tanked by AFC we honestly thought there were points to be brought home. Oh how very wrong we were. The details of our display are far too scary to highlight on here, and let's just hope it was a bad day at the office. 29 of us took the M11 and the all new "Smarty's Army" hung the flags with pride. It was also the inaugural unveiling of a new addition. With one of our faithful not making the journey, we had to pay our respects to his absence. Juppy, The Captain, Virge, Chris, and Tony all stood in silence to reflect. Last month, we witnessed the "Shabba Moon" I fear it may never be seen in Sussex again... As for Shabba himself? Well that famous networking site is rife with updates. All I can say is this. "He's changed!!" Thankfully, we are all good friends and the ribbing is done in the best possible taste!

So we put September to bed and welcome October. Are we really into the third month of the season already? It only seems a week or so ago that we were still getting stuffed at cricket. Oh we were, weren't we!

Kettering next and who knows which Boro will take to the field. I hope it's the one that fights til the end, the one we are used to seeing. Of course, the Blog Book will be on sale too so another good reason to come down The Lane.... (a shameless plug I know) See you all in seven days time, unless things change!)
