A 54-year-old man who was found dead on railway tracks is believed to have been electrocuted.

Power to a railway line near Haywards Heath was switched off after a man's body was found on the tracks at 10.03pm on Tuesday.

Passengers were left stranded on trains after the man, who is believed to be from Shenstone, Lichfield, Staffordshire, was found about 100ft from a short tunnel leading to Haywards Heath railway station.

Trains were delayed for about two hours following the discovery of the man's body.

A British Transport Police spokesman said a file about the incident would be prepared for the coroner.
