While I welcome plans to create more school places in Hove (The Argus, October 28), what we really need is a new primary school.

It simply is not good enough to permanently expand existing primary schools in Hove, many of which are big enough as it is. I’m also concerned at the pressure additional pupil numbers will put on school facilities during break times.

Too many Hove children have to travel to Portslade or Brighton. While additional places at existing schools will ease the situation, it’s important we take real and sustainable action – and that means a new school.

Earlier this year I submitted a petition to the council on behalf of parents.

Children deserve more than to be squeezed into already full schools. Greens believe ensuring our children are given a grade A education means doing everything in our power to give them the best facilities and support.
