A man has been arrested after a robbery at a Coral bookmakers in Crawley.
The raid took place at the shop in Gossops Parade, Gossops Green, at 8.55pm last night.
A Sussex Police spokeswoman said: "The suspect, wearing a mask, entered the shop carrying a gun, now known to be an imitation handgun, and demanded money.
"He was given an amount of cash. A male customer entered the shop while the robbery was taking place and grappled with the suspect before giving chase when the suspect fled."
The suspect was chased into Kidborough Road, Rother Crescent and Medway Road.
Police later seized an imitation handgun and a bag containing cash which were found in two separate front gardens in Rother Crescent.
Police confirmed they arrested a 49-year-old man in Medway Road.
Detective Sergeant Steven Boyle, who is leading the investigation, said: "We would like to speak to the man who challenged the robber and gave chase, and indeed anyone who witnessed the robbery and has not yet come forward."
