IT beggars belief that an employee of the people – Tory MP for Beckenham Jacqui Lait – can be so out of touch with those who gave her the job (The Argus, November 13).
She said she could not be expected to commute back to her family home in Rye at 10.45pm.
My wife did this with many others before she retired.
I often left work, ran like mad to King’s Cross Underground, got a train to Victoria Station, ran like mad to make the last train to Eastbourne – and then ran to try to catch the last bus to St Anthony’s.
If I missed it I had a walk of 2.5 miles in the early hours.
If I had overtime I was up at 5.30am to catch one of the first trains the next morning.
So many of her constituents were doing the same thing, and still are. She is so out of touch.
If she is in the opposition, what’s she doing in London at 10.45pm?
It would be totally different if she was in the Government of course.
