A new police chief has warned residents to check their home security.
Inspector Jason Hazzard took over the Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) for Hove and Portslade on Monday.
He has urged people to check their doors and windows are locked after four burglaries in the New Church Road area this week.
A bag containing medical equipment was stolen in the latest break-in at a house in Marine Avenue, Hove, on Wednesday night.
Officers will do a leaflet drop in the area reminding people to ensure their homes are secure while they are out or asleep at night.
Insp Hazzard added that free crime prevention advice is available at Hove and Brighton police stations.
Anyone with information about the burglaries should phone Sussex Police on 0845 6070999.
