Congratulations to The Argus and Lawrence Marzouk for exposing the truth behind the King Alfred fiasco (The Argus, November 20).
This development was suspect right from the start and anyone who was at the meeting when the application from Karis was given approval will know that democracy had nothing to do with the council’s decision.
It was a sad day for Brighton and Hove when common sense was not followed and we can only hope that such a situation will never be allowed to happen again.
Decent people found themselves without support from a hierarchy that should feel ashamed.
While acknowledging that the current economic crisis is a disaster, we can only be grateful that it has saved us from another one on our seafront.
