Dragging yourself out of bed on a chilly winter morning is always one of life's testing experiences – but not for Rob Pope, the proud owner of Brighton and Hove's ultimate bachelor pad.

There is no shivering in the bathroom for him while he waits for the shower to heat up.

Instead he just presses one button on the remote control next to his bed to switch on the underfloor heating and another to automatically start the bath running.

Then he can roll over and go back to sleep for another ten minutes before even venturing into the cold.

When he has finished his doze he strolls past his 42inch bedroom TV, one of two big screens in his two bedroom pad in Hove and through to the bath – which has run to his selected depth and temperature at the touch of the button.

Once he is there he can lounge back, grab another waterproof remote control and switch on the smaller TV mounted in the towel rail.

Computer security expert Mr Pope, 35, said: "I have to travel around a lot for my work, so having that as a start to your day when you are getting up at 5am is really nice."

The luxurious morning routine gives just one example of how Mr Pope has kitted out his flat to suit his life to a tee.

He has three laptops so he can seamlessly work as he wanders from room to room and the apartment is scattered with his gadgets, gizmos and boys toys.

But there is no questioning the favourite of his excesses among his friends, the solid-walnut-topped bar that takes pride of place in the hallway.

It has its own mini-fridge, optics, white leather barstools, a dartboard and a scenic backdrop of the Bay Bridge, in San Francisco, a reminder of Mr Pope's time living in the city while expanding his celebrity data protection company.

Mr Pope said: "People love coming here and sitting around the bar, especially at the moment because it's been quite hard economically."

Mr Pope said despite the many thousands he has spent on the flat, he did not expect his bachelor lifestyle to last forever.

He said: "I'm single and don't have any kids so I've had a bit of money spare to do this. I have had girlfriends along the way but it has been built to how I want it. When I eventually move in with a girl and get married I imagine my lifestyle will change a lot.

"I probably need it – I'm great at buying all this stuff but I only got a toilet roll holder when my old girlfriend noticed I didn't have one. I just had them stacked in the corner."
