I READ “Row erupts over Pride” (The Argus, November 19). The public must be getting bored with how the present runners of Pride are handling things. I know I am.

Wilde Ones came up with an idea to run the park on a non-profit basis in roughly the format it was this year but the Pride committee won’t consider this. After all, they would have nothing to do and be out of a job.

Yvonne Barker, the former Pride chairwoman, said we do not believe the Wild Fruit Tent necessarily delivers Pride charitable objectives.

I did not go to this year’s Pride. Because Revenge was not allowed at the park the Pride committee, in my opinion, took the Brighton gay soul out of the event.

Revenge backed Pride when no one else was interested. Now they want to do away with Wild Fruit who raise thousands of pounds a year for charity.

Why don’t they just say the Brighton gay scene has got nothing more to do with Brighton Pride.

I don’t believe the current runners of Pride are delivering any charitable objectives. Why else have they lost £50,000 with an event that was still busy, despite the weather. I think it’s now time they let someone else take over.

They should remember it is Brighton’s Pride so Brigton’s gay and straight businesses should have the benefit and they should not just give it to the highest bidder.

If they cancelled everything to do with Pride and had one person with a bucket collecting at Churchill Square it would make more money than the current organisers, who are making the Brighton gay scene a laughing stock.

Give Pride back to Brighton so the gay and straight communities can still have what used to be a fun day out.

Put the soul back into Pride.
