Wayne Cook’s critique of the bus service to Peacehaven is not entirely fair (Letters, November 25).
He refers to the ten-minute frequency applying all day and being unreliable with long waits, but that frequency only applies at peak times when the route is busy with commuters.
Three buses an hour during the off-peak seem to cater for the numbers travelling at that time.
We do our very best to keep buses on time and the bus lanes have been a huge help, but delays caused by congestion and roadworks in the city are challenging for all traffic, not just buses. There’s a late journey back from Brighton to Peacehaven at 11.35pm so it’s not true to say buses are “non-existent after 10.30pm”.
There are even departures at 1.45am and 3.05am three nights a week.
We have never run the route to Lewes but that limited timetable is due to funding restrictions from the county council.
