Flood warnings have been issued advising householders in Sussex to be on guard.
The warnings have came from the Environment Agency after a weekend of prolonged rainfall.
The areas most at risk are The River Ouse at Barcombe near Lewes and the Loxwood Stream near Billinghsurst.
There are also flood watches on the rivers Adur, Ouse, Uck and Cuckmere.
Fire crews throughout the county have been told to prepare themselves for an increase in calls.
