WITHOUT doubt Worthing councillors will have a difficult juggling act to perform on Thursday if they are to placate middle England voters outraged by councillors’ plans to dispose of downland around historic Cissbury Ring, owned by the town.
The shock news of the disposal has come hard on the heels of the controversial development plans for the Titnore woods area, that are also shortly to come before councillors, and the green sward west of Goring Yacht Club.
If comment around Worthing and Findon is anything to go by, residents attending the council meeting in the town hall at 7pm will be expecting their councillors to improve the town’s appalling environmental image.
On Thursday Worthing Borough Council will have a golden opportunity to let residents know they do think protection of our environmental and cultural heritage is of the utmost importance – or not.
