Adur District Council's phone system has crashed.
Members of the public trying to call the Civic Centre in Shoreham on the usual number of 01273 263000 will find they cannot get through.
A council spokeswoman said no incoming calls can be received and no outgoing calls can be made from the building.
People wishing to contact the council should call either 01273 440276 or 01273 440204. An engineer has been called and the problem should be fixed later today.
