Police were called to a student protest at a university.

More than 500 students and staff at the University of Sussex held a demonstration on campus this morning against proposals for 115 job losses.

After a rally of speeches, demonstrators entered the building where university’s management was holding a meeting to discuss the proposals.

Students and staff lined the corridors of the building, demanding that the university be held accountable for its proposed cuts to academics and staff across the board.

Half an hour after they entered the building the police were called.

Officers attended the scene and the protestors left to continue the rally outside.
