A group of children discovered what life was like growing up in the Second World War when they were "evacuated" for the day.
The youngsters from West Hove Junior School dressed as wartime evacuees, complete with labels spelling out their names, as they set off carrying suitcases and gas mask boxes.
"Tearful" mums turned up at Aldrington railway station to wave goodbye as their children boarded a train.
The children, aged eight and nine, were only travelling as far as St Peter's School, in nearby Portslade, to visit its air raid shelter.
The visit was part of the Year Four pupils’ Keep Calm and Carry On topic on the Second World War. More than 100 children from two classes are being "evacuated" over two days.
