A £6.5 million pipeline carrying water into drought-prone areas of Sussex has been completed.
Up to 15 million litres a day from Portsmouth Water's Littleheath Reservoir, near Fontwell, West Sussex, will be pumped across the South Downs to Southern Water's supply works at Hardham, near Pulborough.
Hardham supplies water to more than 250,000 people across Sussex and Stuart Derwent, Southern Water's mananging director, said: "This scheme gives water supplies in the north Sussex area a huge boost and will help to ensure we are able to continue meeting customers' increasing demands."
