A hotline was being launched today to help the growing number of workers at Gatwick who complain of being bullied.

The union Amicus said the phone service would give advice to cabin crew, engineers and ground staff, some of whom were working excessive hours because of competition in the aviation industry.

Union officials said they were receiving a growing number of calls from workers seeking help to deal with bullying by managers, passengers and even colleagues.

Amicus national officer Gordon White said: "Amicus officials are now having to deal with cases of bullying and harassment on a daily basis and that does not include non-members. "Bullying is a disaster for morale and productivity."
