Saltdean Residents' Association fully supports Mrs Cordy (Letters, May 29). We have made repeated requests for a crossing in Longridge Avenue, Saltdean.
We first asked for a crossing in 1956 - nearly fifty years ago - when the police at the time felt it was an "urgent necessity".
Residents in this area feel impassioned about the need for a crossing and have the support of a number of traders, councillors and residents.
In September last year we spent a day counting traffic and pedestrians using the road to prove to the councils there was an urgent need. Our campaign for a crossing does not end. We will not give up until one is installed.
We need a crossing now.
-Duncan Ward, Secretary of Saltdean Residents' Association and Telscombe Town Councillor
