I had to write in regard to Cassie Watts being given six months in prison for attacking a girl who had mugged her, and her dad who was there with her but not involved in the attack also being given six months.
What point is a prison sentence? These are two people with no criminal history who were more than likely never to offend again.
It costs a fortune to put people in prison and the Government is trying to find ways of keeping people out of prison because of overcrowding.
Now a judge with his own ideas, and very little knowledge of an area like Whitehawk, where you do not get many muggings or old ladies having their handbags snatched, hands down these sentences.
Whitehawk has a good community and most people do not accept this sort of crime.
