In reply to Reg Moores (Letters, March 12), who asked for the point of a non-smoking day.

Nicotine is a potentially dangerous drug and tar and carbon monoxide are equally potential poisons in cigarettes.

The point of a non-smoking day is to give one day in which people are not inhaling something which could give them lung cancer, mouth cancer, throat cancer and quite a bit more damage.

Smokers should be aware that if they smoke around children, the smoke will affect them and they are likely to start to smoke themselves.
