Tour operator First Choice Holidays has announced a growth in demand for its activity holidays as it reported trading in line with expectations.

The Crawley-based firm said winter and summer 2004 bookings for breaks involving activities such as biking, hiking, kayaking or safaris were 18 per cent up on last year.

It said there was a major opportunity in this market and it was continuing to build its position with acquisitions.

First Choice recently bought The Adventure Company to complement its existing operators in the sector, which include Exodus, Waymark and Trek America.
