The Argus has today declared war on the graffiti taggers who blight Brighton and Hove.
Barely a street has escaped the ugly scrawls which cost homeowners and businesses millions of pounds every year to clean.
The Argus has joined the police, city council and the Government to declare enough is enough.
We have launched a campaign called Tell on Taggers, aimed at rubbing out the graffiti menace by naming and shaming the most-wanted offenders.
In communities where these unsightly daubings stain bus shelters, shop fronts and walls, they breed fear.
They send out a message that our city is not cared for, that anything goes. It's time to fight back.
Under his new Name That Tag initiative Home Secretary David Blunkett makes it clear anyone who knows the identity of a graffiti vandal has a duty to make it public.
While residents and traders can scrub paint off their walls, the most effective deterrent is the threat of being caught.
