Lewes missed a golden chance to enhance their London Three South East promotion chances when they were pipped 16-15 at Tonbridge Juddian.

Like Heath, they thought they had snatched the win when Tom Saunders scored a late try.

Judds replied with a winning penalty with the last kick of the match.

Scott Patto's try had given Lewes the perfect start with Neil Rumble converting and later adding a penalty.

The visitors, however, were always on the back foot against a big pack and were unhappy with some of the penalty decisions that went against them, including that which gave Judds their decisive final kick.

Bognor's Rob Parry had a last-kick chance to give his side their first win of the season but was off target from close range.

It was disappointing for Parry, whose two long range penalties had eased Bognor into a 6-0 lead at home to Charlton Park.

Skipper Karl Flynn, however, insisted he was delighted with a point after his men had been on the defensive for long periods.

He said: "We probably spent 35 minutes in our own 22 in the second half but the defence and determination were fantastic.

"The referee was trying to play an advantage at the end but I knew he was going to blow for full-time after the penalty so I said 'Let's just have the penalty, kick the points and get the win'."

Chichester went down 18-12 at Dartfordians, despite tries from Peter Davies and Eddie Armah, with Jack Smallman adding a conversion.

Brighton competed well at leaders Maidstone before going down 35-17.

Nick Jones and James Lewis both scored tries and there was a forwards score which Martin McDonagh was credited with.

Skipper Andy Pinnock, who watched from the touchline due to a torn hamstring, said: "We gave a good account of ourselves but we were overpowered up front."

Thirteen wasted points in missed goal kicks did not help either.
