Tucked away on page 21 of The Argus on Monday was a most informative article about Brighton and Hove's buses, with important implications for our transport planners.

It is generally considered that trams are the most efficient and economical way of moving people for distances of up to ten miles, when peak hour flows have between 3,000 and 15,000 passengers an hour.

The number of buses running on the main bus route corridors, as reported in the article, are well above the minimum threshold, which suggests serious consideration should be given to converting all or part of the City's "Metro" routes to operation by tram.
