So, Councillor Williams of the Green Party is concerned about the "worrying tendency to forget that policy is decided by elected politicians" (Letters, November 10) and berates "un-elected and seemingly unaccountable partnerships" in the city.

I suggest he needs to be careful unless he thinks politicians are infallible and don't need anyone other than themselves to deliver what the city needs.

The very fact there are so many partnerships is a testament to the willingness of ordinary people to give time and effort to making a contribution to the future of Brighton and Hove.

He would do well to remember it is our politicians who currently have a standing in this country somewhere below estate agents and tabloid journalists, not the very many citizens giving their time freely and without reward in partnership work.
