When will sense prevail and fireworks be banned other than at organised displays once or twice a year (ie Guy Fawkes night and New Year's Eve)?

I am at the end of my tether after more than two weeks of nightly explosions which have terrified my poor dog.

He barks for hours on end despite us turning the radio up to an unbearable level and trying to hold his ears down to keep out the noise.

It might be amusing to some but to us it is a nightmare and almost enough to drive one to drink.

If it were just one or two nights a year I would happily give him a mild sedative but two weeks of nightly displays would have the poor dog checking into Betty Ford's clinic to detox.

Why can't the authorities make the decision to ban the sale of fireworks to the public?

Guy Fawkes night was banned many years ago in Australia and I don't see any major ill effects.

The public displays are incredible and wonderful events but they must be limited.
