Breakfast TV presenter Natasha Kaplinsky has admitted her love life is in turmoil after being seen in her home city of Brighton with an old flame.

Natasha, 31, who presents BBC Breakfast with Dermot Murnaghan, has been with her boyfriend Mike Barnard for 11 years but the former Varndean College, Brighton, student has admitted a fling with former TV presenter Lloyd Bracey.

She was spotted with Lloyd in The Lanes and they were seen together at a hotel in Brighton.

Now she is trying to patch up her relationship with Mike, a management consultant.

She was a regular face on TV as a presenter for Meridian TV where she met Lloyd while working at its Maidstone studios.

Natasha said of her involvement with Lloyd: "I have made an error of judgement and I am mortified by it. Mike is a most incredible, loyal, gorgeous, supportive lovely man.

"We have a lot of talking to do. No one outside any relationship can know the difficulties any couple face."

She has previously spoken of the difficulties in maintaining a relationship with her tough work schedule.

She goes to bed at 8.30pm and gets up 3.30am, ready to be on air at 6am, Monday to Friday.

She said: "It is not good for me and Mike. He sometimes comes in when I am getting up. It is hard to even see friends."

Natasha, whose parents are political refugees from South Africa, came to Britain when she was six.

They settled in Barcombe, near Lewes, and Natasha went to Ringmer Community College before Varndean, then Oxford.

She worked at the Commons for Labour leaders Neil Kinnock and John Smith before getting her break with Meridian.

She went on to present London Tonight and London Today before joining Sky News, then BBC Breakfast.
