The publishers of a magazine promoting cannabis have apologised after pensioners received it through their letterboxes.

Homes in Lincoln Road, Portslade, were leafleted this week with copies of CC Newz, billed as the newspaper for the cannabis consumer.

It includes headings such as "They huff while we puff" and "When you vote next year, will it be for the Legalise Cannabis Alliance?"

CC Newz also features adverts for seeds, grinders and growing equipment.

Householders were angry when the 32-page full-colour magazines were delivered and said children could have found them.

June Anslow, 65, said: "I received it in my letter box with a load of takeaway food leaflets. It's shocking.

"My son phoned the police and left a message on their answer machine. He was thoroughly disgusted.

"It advertises cannabis tablets and seeds. It's quite out of order."

Neighbour Bill Murphy, 74, said: "I have cleaned so many people who have been on drugs.

"I have got no time for the likes of these people who want to sell this rubbish to the community.

"One page asks if you will vote for the Legalise Cannabis Alliance.

"When I see something like this pushed through people's doors, I think it's about time something was done about it."

Editor Lyndon Pugh said: "We would like to convey our sincere apologies to the people who received it. We are not in the business of doing this sort of thing.

"In its present form in colour, we have been producing the magazine for a year and a half. Before that we produced it in black and white.

"This is the first time I have ever heard of anything like this. If it was a misguided fan trying to promote us, we would like them to stop it."

Mr Pugh said CC News, which is based near Lewes, was either sold by subscription or through retailers who specifically ask for it.
