Eastbourne Borough boss Garry Wilson believes his players can be proud of themselves after their FA Cup run came to an end last night.

Borough lost 1-0 to Conference full-timers Stevenage Borough in the fourth qualifying round replay at Broadhall Way.

Wilson said: "All the players did themselves proud because to push a Conference side all the way is a brilliant achievement.

"We matched them in the first game and almost did it again but, in the end, we just ran out of steam. No-one has anything to be ashamed of because we have done so well."

Borough have only reached this stage of the competition once before, as Langney Sports in 1998, when the club was in the County League. The Cup run earned them £7,750 after wins against Braintree and Chelmsford City.

Wilson said: "It has been a good experience for all the players and supporters. It is the furthest we have been and, of course, it would have been nice to go one step better but we'll have to wait until next year."

Crawley will visit Telford in their first round on November 8. Telford won 3-2 in a replay at Tamworth last night.

Meanwhile, Crawley are in talks with Carl Wilson-Denis over a permanent switch to the Broadfield Stadium following his release by Albion. The striker has scored seven goals in 12 appearances on loan at Crawley.
