What on Earth is going on at Brighton station?

Despite eight platforms, it seems platform 6 is used for both the 7.33 to London Bridge and the 7.47 to Victoria, with the other platforms clogged with Thameslink Bedford trains and the coastal routes.

The London Bridge train is often delayed with the knock-on effect that the Victoria train is also held up, thus delaying everyone's journeys to London.

Last Monday was a classic example. The passengers in the last six coaches of the 7.33 had to move to the first six coaches and then the faulty six remaining coaches be removed before the Victoria train could enter the station.

It was getting on for 8am before they had even moved the passengers to the good part of the train so I just gave up and went home.

Surely if they realise the London Bridge train is going to be delayed again (at least the old slam-door trains didn't malfunction as much as these new ones) it isn't too much to expect the following Victoria train to be changed to a different platform to avoid having two lots of disgruntled passengers.

I now have to get the 7.17am train to ensure being in London before 9am.

It is usually on time whereas the 7.47 is practically always at least ten minutes late getting in.
