Hove's Labour MP Ivor Caplin is to take part in a conference to discuss ways for good care homes to remain open.
Mr Caplin will attend East Sussex, Brighton and Hove Care Home Association's conference titled Care Talk, which is being held in Alfriston on Friday.
He said: "Care homes place an important role in the community.
"The introduction of minimum standards by the Government will help guarantee they give the best possible quality of care to our elderly residents."
"It is important to continue a two-way dialogue between politicians and care home owners on the many issues which I know exist in the industry."
