It seems so out of touch for Brighton and Hove City Council to suspend the green waste collections at a time when many people with gardens will be doing seasonal pruning, cutting and clearing of vegetation.
If the reason is lack of funds, why not use the money earmarked for increasing councillors' allowances out of our tax?
I understand the intention is to raise the basic allowance up to £10,000.
This represents funds of £2,000 times 54 councillors, which makes a total of £108,000.
Undoubtedly this is only the tip of the iceberg.
Other council tax funds will be made available to facilitate other allowances.
Imagine how effectively this other money could be used, as Local Government Minister Mr Raynsford highlighted in his recent comments about council tax.
