Just when Palmeira residents were settling down to life without a zillion phone masts hovering above their heads, the threat from a corporate mobile phone giant has reared its ugly head once more.
The 2.5 metre high phone masts once proposed for Intergen House in Palmeira Square now come with a prefab brick shroud as if that will stop them from degrading the skyline.
It will be a conservation disaster for these to appear on a delightful seafront. Let us preserve the sanity of the skyline.
Surely a few missed phone calls are worth it?
These small struggles are raging throughout the land as corporate giants try to disregard the plight of communities who wish to live in a healthy environment.
In many ways they are bringing people together at a time when communities are becoming more fragmented.
