Albion ace Leon Knight has drawn a line under his feud with Sheffield Wednesday manager Chris Turner, at least for the next six months.

Knight opened the scoring early on in Saturday's 2-0 home win over his old club, which lifted the Seagulls into second spot.

It came 48 hours after Knight launched a scathing attack on Turner in an exclusive interview with The Argus over the way he was treated during a loan spell from Chelsea last season.

Turner responded by describing Knight as a failed footballer, but Albion's mini marksman has now put the conflict to rest until the teams meet again.

"I think it's dead now," he declared. "I think I'm satisfied. Until we play them at Hillsborough in March I haven't got anything to say.

"He (Turner) can say what he wants really, but I'm not interested."

Turner conceded: "Leon did what Leon is good at for the first goal. I stand by the statement I made about him and I am not going to lower myself into a slanging match with a player.

"He's a young fella. I always said he has got talent, but at that particular time at Sheffield Wednesday we needed more."

Albion chief Steve Coppell said he was unaware of Turner's remarks about Knight. He added: "Football is about opinions. If you look at Leon's games and goals he has done allright.

"He has got a long way to go. He is the first to admit he has got to put a season in and really have a big goal tally against his name to earn the respect of his fellow professionals and people that work for other clubs.

"That is important over a period of time."

Knight went off injured in the second half, but he expects to be fit for Wednesday's Carling Cup clash at Premiership strugglers Middlesbrough.

He explained: "I was standing on one leg when I tried to trap the ball and I was caught and twisted my ankle a bit, but it should be okay."

Knight's replacement Chris McPhee made sure of the points late on with his first League goal. He is now poised to partner Knight at the Riverside Stadium as on-loan Darius Henderson has been cup-tied by Reading.

McPhee said: "I am always going to remember my first League goal, but it was more important that we won.

"We were delighted with the result. They were just below us in the table before the game and we are edging close to the top."
