Relatives of football fan Andrew Rimmer have thanked those who have sent more than 400 letters and cards since his death.

Mr Rimmer, 33, from Hove, was killed in Sydney, Australia, by a vicious storm which toppled a tree on to the car in which he was travelling on August 24.

Mr Rimmer, formerly head boy at both Mowden School in Hove and Lancing College, was on his way to watch one of his football club's junior teams play a cup final.

His parents, Nicholas and Hazel Rimmer, and sister Lynne, said they would be "eternally grateful" for the "wonderful" letters and cards of sympathy they had received.

They also hoped people would forgive them for not replying.

Mr Rimmer's funeral earlier this month featured the Brighton and Hove Albion anthem Sussex By The Sea and the theme tune from TV's Test Match Special, reflecting his love of football and cricket.
