As a born and bred Brightonian, I have seen the changes over the years for the better.

To have gained city status was a huge achievement, even if we are a little one.

Having my own business in Brighton for the past eight years, I have seen the benefits of the high profile Brighton and Hove has been getting - it's great for weekend breaks and hen parties, Brighton Festival, our celebrity inhabitants etc.

Regarding the expense account of the council's chief executive, if he were CEO of any company the size of the council, that £5,000 would be a monthly figure.

In my opinion, the council needs to be run like any other business. The money is being spent predominantly in the city, which can only please businesses.

The Argus focussed on the high-end market entertaining. I have seen council members entertaining in pizzerias.

As our local newspaper, I find it disappointing when you knock our great city.
