Chris Beasleigh made hay with a huge century as Bells Yew Green beat Burwash Weald to go joint top of Cuckmere Valley League division one.

Beasleigh hammered 168 not out as BYG amassed 281-8 from their 40 overs. It proved more than enough as bottom side Burwash were dismissed for 117 in reply, Ian Holford taking 3-26.

BYG are level on points at the top with Alfriston who enjoyed a 13-run success against fellow title contenders Blackboys.

Lee Poulton made a well-crafted 88 in an Alfriston total of 170-6, with Greg Dann taking 3-35 for the hosts. Blackboys lost a number of cheap wickets in reply and were left stranded on 157-7 at the close with Mark Dann unbeaten on 36 as Steve Knight claimed 3-42.

East Dean are two points off the top two with a game in hand following a crushing defeat of Selmeston.

The visitors were in trouble until Matt Bulkeley (27) and Simon Farrer (21) put on 34 for the last wicket to help them to 102 all out. Selmeston also struggled in reply and were dismissed for 37 as Graham Primett ripped in with 5-9.

Firle are one win off the top two with a game in hand after a 21-run success at Denton.

Richard Gravett scored 59 as Firle posted 189 all out, with bowling honours shared between Mark Miles (4-42) and Nick Young (3-37). Richard Atkins hit 54 in reply and Trevor Wood 49 but Denton were dismissed for 168 as Tony Wakley claimed 3-16.
