As residents of Redhill Drive, we are extremely concerned by the proposed development on the greenfield site in the middle of our neighbourhood.

We object to the plans because Redhill Drive is not a main road. It is a residential road along which parents take young children and toddlers to school every day.

Their safety will be severely compromised as all traffic to and from this development would have to pass along Redhill Drive.

Once the development (of about 275 bedrooms in 112 homes) is completed, there will be an extra 2-300 vehicles turning out of Redhill Close into Redhill Drive at least twice a day.

These roads are already impassable at peak times and the junctions with Valley Drive and Valley Drive/Glen Rise and Dyke Road are congested and dangerous.

The proposed site is greenfield, not brownfield, so should not be used for housing. We understand this is against council and the Government's planning policies.

The quality of life of all neighbouring residents and the whole Withdean/Westdene area would suffer.

We understand this development will also provide a percentage of accommodation for disabled and low-income households. Surely they should be able to access suitable amenities and there are none here.

A location nearer the city centre or with better transport links would benefit all those concerned.
