Both the proposed replacements for the King Alfred are ghastly.

Neither should be approved without the consent of the majority of Brighton and Hove's council taxpayers, all of whom will have to live with this enormous monstrosity for possibly the rest of their lives.

Just because a design is avant garde or "different" - it is certainly different - does not mean it is good, desirable, attractive or in keeping with the area.

It is so huge that it will be the dominant feature for miles around and, effectively, will typify the town.

So if we want Hove to be symbolised by a gargantuan, misshapen blot, just carry on and build "Molten Towers".

The citizens of, say, Bournemouth, will be killing themselves laughing.
